A happy, nurturing place for little people to learn, play and grow
Located just above Havre de Pas, Green Street Nursery is a bright, welcoming and well-equipped setting with easy access from St Helier and the southern and eastern parishes. Across two spacious floors and a large, secure walled garden, we provide a nurturing environment where babies, toddlers and pre-school children can feel safe, develop their independence and enjoy learning through play.
A place to grow
From the moment you step inside Green Street Nursery, you'll find a calm and homely environment where children are encouraged to be curious, creative and confident. Our rooms are thoughtfully arranged to reflect children's different stages of development, with natural materials and real-life resources that encourage exploration, imagination and independence. Our large, secure walled garden is a much-loved part of nursery life. Children have plenty of opportunities to climb, dig, build, create and discover nature, whatever the weather. We also make the most of our seaside location, with regular trips to Havre de Pas beach and other local places of interest.
Respectful, child-centred care
Our experienced and caring team build strong, trusting relationships with every child and family. We follow the Birth to Five Matters curriculum, supporting each child's individual development and helping them build the skills, confidence and foundations they need for their next steps. Our approach is also influenced by the Pikler philosophy, which places a strong emphasis on respectful relationships, freedom of movement, independence and allowing children to develop at their own pace. Our Nursery Manager has undertaken training in the approach, and its principles are incorporated into the way we care for and support the children. We believe that children learn best when they feel secure, valued and listened to, so we give them the time, space and encouragement they need to become confident learners.
Learning beyond the nursery
We believe some of the best learning happens outside the nursery. Our own fleet of minibuses allows us to take children on regular trips and adventures, giving them
opportunities to experience the wider community, discover new places and learn through real-life experiences.
Back at nursery, children enjoy nutritious hot lunches each day, with mealtimes providing another opportunity to develop independence, social skills and positive attitudes towards food.
